Why this programme
In the exciting and multidisciplinary field of regenerative medicine, you learn to design and develop medical therapies, products and devices for research and clinical use in regenerative medicine. The fields of science (biology, chemistry, data science), engineering (mathematics, physics, materials), medicine (physiology, anatomy) and entrepreneurship are well represented in the curriculum.
Strong cooperation with MUMC+
Regenerative Medicine and Technology is remarkable for its close collaboration with the Maastricht University Medical Centre and professionals from the industry. You work on real-world problems brought to you by clinicians and/or the industry. In addition to courses and research projects, you receive training in laboratory skills aligned with the content of your courses and work on a set of academic and professional competences which prepare you for your future career.
A better and more sustainable tomorrow
You design methods that allow the body to repair itself by conducting research and applying state-of-the-art technologies. For many patients this offers an excellent alternative to organ and tissue transplants and sometimes also life-long medication. Help eradicate some of the common chronic diseases like diabetes, arthritis and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as well as various cardiovascular conditions. This not only contributes to a better life quality for patients, but in the long run also helps keep the health costs down.
Building bridges
You build bridges between science, technology, healthcare and health. Moreover, you develop yourself as a professional and learn how to speak the different languages of various experts and how to market your regeneration-based solutions.
Join Study Association Helix
Helix is the study association for Biomedical Sciences and Regenerative Medicine and Technology. Join their diverse events like excursions, camps, and galas throughout the year. Prioritise education with exam prep pub quizzes, company visits, and Student Evaluation Panels to enhance courses for the future.

Student stories
Learning to build bridges
Technology has the potential to improve the quality of medicine and healthcare while also making it more personal and sustainable. New programmes like the Bachelor in Regenerative Medicine and Technology and the Master in Health and Digital Transformation teach students to work across disciplines and collaborate with social partners.

Alisa Ovsiannikova: brand new regenerative medicine student
Alisa moved from Moscow to the Netherlands at 17 years old to become a first-year Regenerative Medicine and Technology (RMT) bachelor’s student. Turns out Alisa’s adventurous spirit pushes her to brand-new things, such as the RMT bachelor’s programme and her hobby Tribal Fusion dancing.

Excellence programmes
Honours programme
The faculty offers an Honours Programme for its most motivated and talented students. This prestigious programme allows chosen students to follow an in-depth track in their field of study. In the Honours Programme, you are actively involved in research projects surrounding current issues in the health sector and other life sciences. You also deal with historical and philosophical issues in the field of medicine. The programme is faculty-wide, which means you'll be working together with students from other programmes.
The programme starts during the bachelor’s second year and lasts for 18 months. It requires an overall investment of about 420 hours. Once you have successfully completed the Honours Programme, you’ll receive an Honours Certificate, in addition to your diploma.
MaRBLe excellence programme
Through the Maastricht Research Based Learning programme, MaRBLe for short, we offer talented third-year bachelor’s students the opportunity to conduct their own research project. You will be guided by experienced academic staff who will help you further develop your critical thinking and research skills. This will help prepare you for a career in scientific research or research positions in business.
