A particular focus of his work is on decomposition approaches to exactly solving large-scale real-world optimization problems. This touches on mathematics, computer science, business, and engineering alike and rings with his appreciation for fascinating interdisciplinary challenges. Titel und Abstract: A Dantzig-Wolfe Hierarchy for the Stable Set Problem The stable set problem is an important subproblem in many practical applications. It has been studied … strong formulations for a problem. We first motivate connecting the two topics by some computational observations about Dantzig-Wolfe reformulations of a classical ("edge") formulation for the stable set problem. For this model, each reformulation can be associated with a subset of the edges of the original graph, thus a subgraph. In fact, we have exponentially many options for selecting such a subgraph and we are able to characterize which reformulations are strongest and weakest possible. Only recently, we …

- bioinformatics_-_deciphering_the_role_of_micronutrients_on_biological_process_level_in_obesity.pdf (259.97 KB, PDF)… Deciphering the role of micronutrients on biological process level in obesity Micronutrients are known to be important in human metabolism and tissue function. Growing evidence shows that the micronutrient status can influence the prevention and treatment of diseases like obesity. It is thus pivotal to decipher the role of micronutrients on a biological process level. Within the biological processes and their regulation several biomolecules are key, i.e., genes, proteins, metabolites and non- coding RNA. Modern technologies enable the measurement of these biomolecules on a large scale generating big data. To analyze and integrate these types of big data and to find biological relevant results an integrative systems biology approach is needed. Within our Bioinformatics department we apply and develop methods & tools to analyze big data. A commonly used pathway analyse tool, PathVisio [1], is partly developed and maintained by our group. With PathVisio, transcriptomics, proteomics and …

This concerned in particular the material scope of the rules, the additional rules on the transfer of personal data to third countries and the relation of the right to data protection with other fundamental rights, such as the freedom of expression. - ANNEX - UM-Call for Proposals Seed Fund Transition to a fossil-free society incl application form – 15 December 2023.docx (19.08 KB, DOCX)… Winter 2023 Background and purpose Similar to governments, industry and the financial world, educational institutions are increasingly being questioned about their role in the transition to climate neutrality, often in the context of cooperation with the fossil fuel industry. UM is convinced of the urgent state our climate is in and recognises the need to act decisively to limit further damage. At the same time, we also see the complexity of the situation and the dilemmas we face as a society: … to a fossil-free society.
