- epp_assesment_1999_-_2004.pdf (73.23 KB, PDF)… health is a major challenge to society. The economic impact furthermore involves the pharmaceutical industry as well as health insurers and the economy at large (cost of labour). Finally, the individual impact in terms of suffering and disability can hardly be overestimated. In this situation, a thorough understanding of the etiological processes in mental health and adjustment is urgently needed. In spite of considerable progress, however, etiological knowledge is limited because so far most research typically has been … validated and extended a theory based cognitive-behavioural treatment, and this therapy is now being compared to a psychodynamic treatment. Arntz has written a treatment manual for the cognitive-behavioural therapy and has provided many training workshops for clinicians in recent years. The same pattern has occurred in pain research in dr. Vlaeyen’ group: based on a series of laboratory experiments, a new and effective approach to chronic benign pain disorders has 6 been developed, tested and …
- Curriculum LAW Master Forensics Criminology and Law 2020-2021.pdf (96.26 KB, PDF)… is characterized by tutorial groups where, according to the PBL model, students apply their insights to current cases, real-life problems and policy issues. In addition, a number of weblectures will be given. Course objectives Upon completion of this course, the student must: be able to recognise the differences and similarities between the various theoretical movements as to research questions, explanations, assumptions, levels of explication and opportunities for theoretical integration; … (knowledge) issues; be able to draw conclusions based on information about research results as to the empirical tenability of theories; be able to comprehend the rationale behind the current fight against and prevention of crime and substantiate this with practical examples. CRI4017 Period 1 31 Aug 2020 23 Oct 2020 Print course description ECTS credits: 6.0 Instruction language: English Coordinators: https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/meta/390828/criminological-perspectives?print=1 Master … Evidence in criminal proceedings may be collected before the actual trial or (much later) at the main hearing. What are the consequences of this division especially in view of the probative value of evidence? Attention will be paid to how conclusions can be drawn from the evidence that is on the table. Does the evidence that is presented prove that the accused committed the offence as charged? Why is the burden of proof on the prosecution and how does this relate to the presumption of innocence? …

- EN Veilig werken met OBEOW stoffen HSB.pdf (101.37 KB, PDF)… Working safely with FCEOW substances Version 1.0 08/2024 info-hsb@maastrichtuniversity.nl page 1/1 Working safely with FCEOW substances Introduction This document contains additional work instructions for working safely with (highly) flammable, combustible, explosive, oxidising and water-reactive (FCEOW) substances within laboratories. If you have any questions or ambiguities regarding these work instructions or the substances you intend to use, you can always consult the Armico or contact HSB. Flammable, combustible, explosive, are substances that can cause fire or explosion through energy transfer (temperature, mechanical impact, reaction with other substances, etc.). The main purpose of these instructions is to reduce this energy transfer as much as possible and to arrange working conditions so as to reduce the risk of a hazardous situation as much as possible. Working with such substances requires wearing safety glasses. In addition, one should always take into …
- Marco Lübbecke is a full professor and chair of operations research at RWTH Aachen University.pdf (62.16 KB, PDF)… optimization, covering the entire spectrum from fundamental research and methods development to industry scale applications. A particular focus of his work is on decomposition approaches to exactly solving large-scale real-world optimization problems. This touches on mathematics, computer science, business, and engineering alike and rings with his appreciation for fascinating interdisciplinary challenges. Titel und Abstract: A Dantzig-Wolfe Hierarchy for the Stable Set Problem The stable set problem … a general technique for obtaining strong formulations for a problem. We first motivate connecting the two topics by some computational observations about Dantzig-Wolfe reformulations of a classical ("edge") formulation for the stable set problem. For this model, each reformulation can be associated with a subset of the edges of the original graph, thus a subgraph. In fact, we have exponentially many options for selecting such a subgraph and we are able to characterize which reformulations are strongest and weakest possible. Only …

- bioinformatics_-_deciphering_the_role_of_micronutrients_on_biological_process_level_in_obesity.pdf (259.97 KB, PDF)… Deciphering the role of micronutrients on biological process level in obesity Micronutrients are known to be important in human metabolism and tissue function. Growing evidence shows that the micronutrient status can influence the prevention and treatment of diseases like obesity. It is thus pivotal to decipher the role of micronutrients on a biological process level. Within the biological processes and their regulation several biomolecules are key, i.e., … Bioinformatics department we apply and develop methods & tools to analyze big data. A commonly used pathway analyse tool, PathVisio [1], is partly developed and maintained by our group. With PathVisio, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics data can be analyzed together to identify biological processes of interest. In addition, our pathway approach is often extended by a network analysis. Recently, we published a paper in which the effect of vitamin D3 in cancer cells was investigated using an integrative network- based approach in which large-scale mRNA and microRNA expression was combined [2]. The PhD student will work on analyzing and integrating molecular data from studies that investigated the …
