Partnerships
AMIBM is a cross-border cooperation between Maastricht University, RWTH Aachen and Fraunhofer IME. The Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials (AMIBM) is located at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen, The Netherlands.
RWTH Aachen University
The work of the research centers of RWTH Aachen is closely oriented towards the current needs of industry. This leads to numerous developments that are patented and utilized. The competence centers of RWTH Aachen achieve very effective cross-subject, inter-faculty collaboration in interdisciplinary networks while maintaining a high level of specialization and differentiation into distinct subject areas.
AME
The defining feature of our institute is the pursuit of a future-oriented biomedical engineering research profile, combining conventional medical engineering with natural sciences, and especially with biosciences. To this end RWTH Aachen offers an exceptional opportunity with its combined expertise in the technical faculties, the natural sciences faculty and the medical faculty within the University Hospital.
Fraunhofer IME
The Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME conducts research in the field of applied life sciences from a molecular level to entire ecosystems. Our interdisciplinary organization and laboratories with most recent equipment including GMP facilities and complex facilities for environmental simulations allow a wide spectrum of research and development services in the division Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology.
Brightlands Chemelot Campus
Brightlands positioned as global leader in specialized innovation
Chemelot is one of the largest integrated chemical and materials sites in Europe and houses over 200 companies ranging from disruptive startups, innovative small medium enterprises and global leading multinationals. Chemelot is right in the center of the so called ARRRA-region (Antwerp Rotterdam Rhine Ruhr Area), the largest chemical cluster of the world where 40% of EU’s chemical production is taken place.
Innovation is absolute key success factor for the realization of Chemelot’s vision 2025 resulting into the most safe, sustainable and competitive chemical site in Europe.
At Chemelot open innovation or smart collaboration is concentrated at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus, a unique ecosystem developed over the last 17 years. Brightlands Chemelot Campus is the leading campus within the broader Brightlands innovation ecosystem in the province of Limburg of the Netherlands.
Recently Lux Research positioned Brightlands as a global leader in specialized innovation, the only innovation cluster in the EU that made it to Lux’s list. Lux Research assessed global innovation clusters that are focused on developing new technologies relevant to a particular sector or global issue. Lux take: "Clients should view Brightlands as a global leader in innovations in performance materials, sustainable processes, and biomedical solutions. Brightlands has cultivated a premier innovation ecosystem that positions startups to succeed by offering a full suite of services for companies to validate technology, access critical markets, and grow a successful business.”
