S.M.A. Michielse
In 2013 Stijn Michielse started working as a PhD student at the Department of Psychiatry and Neuropsychology of Maastricht University. During the PhD trajectory he was involved in several projects related to psychotic disorder and white matter imaging using Diffusion Weighted Imaging and won several awards for best posters and presentations. The thesis was defended successfully in 2018 and after a work visit at the University of Alberta in 2019, Stijn started working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Neurosurgery at Maastricht University focusing on white matter MRI acquisition, processing, quantification and visualization.

Finished bachelor in biometrics in the year 2010 followed by one year of working as a research assistant at MHeNS, elaborating in the Genetic Risk and Outcome of Psychosis (GROUP) study. Started in 2011 with the Research Master in Health Sciences, which completed in 2013. Accepted as a PhD student in September 2013 to work at the Smartscan project investigating novel self-management techniques with ESM for early expression of psychopathology, specified on high-risk for psychotic disorder. Experience abroad comes from an internship in Edmonton, Canada at the University of Alberta department of Biomedical Engineering. Conducted research at the Peter S. Allen MR Research Center in an international group of scientists.
