Dean Jolliffe, Lead Economist in the Development Data Group of the World Bank, will give a guest lecture on Monitoring Global Poverty: Measurement Challenges & Developments. Reducing extreme poverty has been a major goal of international development, with significant progress made in reducing it from 36% in 1990 to 10% in 2015, but progress has been uneven across countries, and the COVID pandemic has caused the largest increases in global poverty in decades.
