UM ranks 94th in THE World University Rankings
Maastricht University (UM) ranks 94th in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2016–2017, slightly dropping from number 88 last year. UM scores particularly well in terms of international outlook (e.g. percentage of international staff and students).
UM comes in 8th place of the 13 Dutch universities in the ranking. Its highest score is for international outlook (96.0), followed by industry income (85.7) and citations (84.4). Somewhat lower, but still above average, are its scores for research (48.6) and teaching (39.2).
THE World University Ranking is based on 13 comprehensive performance indicators for teaching, research, knowledge transfer and internationalisation. Data on citations are based on Scopus, an international data base of scientific publications.
