Lilian Tsourdi and Ellen Vos latest publication

MCEL member Assistant Professor Lilian Tsourdi has just published a book chapter in a collective volume (Palgrave 2020) featuring contributions of legal scholars and political scientists on ‘The Role of EU Agencies in the Eurozone and Migration Crisis’ (Johannes Pollak & Peter Slominski eds.). In her chapter, Lilian analyses  the evolving role of EU agencies in the asylum and external border control policies, exploring issues such as the expansion of their executive powers, the emergence of monitoring functions and the challenge of accountability.

In the same volume MCEL co-director, Professor Ellen Vos, has co-authored a chapter with Professor Michelle Everson. They conduct a critical and holistic appraisal of the current state of EU agencies, including an investigation of issues such as their legitimacy, independence, and accountability at legal and political level
