Invitation Citizens’ Dialogue with Frans Timmermans

Invitation Citizens’ Dialogue with Frans Timmermans
6 December 2016

On Thursday 8 December, the European Commission together with University College Maastricht (UCM) is organizing the Citizens’ Dialogue with Frans Timmermans. You are cordially invited to attend the gathering.

On the eve of the celebrations of 25 years Treaty of Maastricht where, under the name “Europe Calling” several activities will be organised, the First Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, returns to his birthplace to engage in an open conversation, looking back, but above all looking ahead together with the audience.  Which direction do we want to take? What is the purpose of borders and what are the dangers of walls? Why are solidarity, inclusion and trust so important and how are we going to achieve them together?

UM Professor of Contemporary European History and European Integration and Dean at UCM Mathieu Segers will hold a welcoming speech and act as Q&A moderator.

The dialogue is part of a series of dialogues that the European Commission is organising in all countries of the Union and will take place at La Bonbonnière, Maastricht from 20.00-21.15 hrs (doors open at 19.30 hrs.). The language of the event is Dutch, with simultaneous interpretation into English.

Please see the official invitation from the European Commission for more details and registration.

The event will also be available on livestream via http://ec.europa.eu/citizens-dialogues/.
