First conference about stem cell bank

The Maastricht stem cell platform MosaCell will be holding their first annual conference on Thursday 18 May. MosaCell is a collaboration between MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine and Maastricht UMC+ to support research into the modulation and treatment of diseases.

The stem cell bank is an important part of MosaCell, the bank will be operational within a year and will contain cultured cells from patients. Stem cell therapy can, for example, be used for blood production after treatment for leukaemia, but also to regenerate other types of tissue, such as bone or skin tissue. It can also be used to conduct studies into the production of mini-organs made from a patient’s isolated stem cells that are capable of fulfilling the functions of damaged organs.
