Christian Ernsten launches Walking Seminar Den Haag
In collaboration with Dirk-Jan Visser, photographer based at the Royal Academy of the Arts The Hague, and with contributions by Research Master CAST students, MACCH affiliated researcher Christian Ernsten launched the Walking Seminar Den Haag: an online walking project on the future of art in public space in The Hague.
Walking Seminar Den Haag, a project commissioned by art center Stroom, consists of four walking conversations with four artists and four academics, which can be listened to as four audio tours through the city of The Hague. The walking conversations deal with the question: What are artistic ways to navigate the future of public space in The Hague? Contributors artist Henriette Waal & cultural geographer Clemens Driessen, artist Anne Geene & environmental scientist Roy Remme, artist Shailoh Phillips & philosopher (and MACCH affiliated researcher) Patricia de Vries, artist Michelle Piergoelam & archaeologist Nick Shepherd focused on the urgent urban matters related to the impact of climate change, on the one hand, and the impact of digitalization on the other.
Research Master CAST (Cultures of Arts, Science and Technology) students' contributions were made in the context of this year's CAST Joint Project on Urban Innovation and Experimentation: The Politics of Artistic and Technological Interventions in Cities. Ernsten coordinated this together with Jens Lachmund.
The Walking Seminar Den Haag will be launched officially on 8 July at the The Hague Contemporary Art Weekend.
