Part-time or holiday job?

Check whether you will get money back from the tax authorities (Belastingdienst)!

Do/did you have a part-time job? Then you pay tax without noticing it. Your employer pays you, but at the same time pays tax on your behalf. You can often get some of that money back when you file your income tax return. You can get money back for up to five years and that can add up to a few hundred euros. File an income tax return for each year you had a part-time job and send it in.

Want to know exactly what's involved with tax when you work? Then take a look at belastingdienst.nl/jongeren  . There you will find everything about filing tax returns and how to make sure you do not pay too much tax. With the tax authorities' tax return app, you can check whether you receive a refund and you can file your income tax return for the past year. In the app, almost all your details are already filled in for you. All you have to do is check it. So download the app immediately from the App Store or Google Playstore and log in with your DigiD. Just like that!

Would you like to file a tax return for other years? Then go to the online tax return programme Mijn Belastingdienst via belastingdienst.nl/jongeren  .

If you file before 1 April each year, the money will usually be in your account by the beginning of the summer holidays. If that is not possible, you can do it when it suits you. It will then usually be in your account within three months.
