Between NATO, Trump, and the far right: How will German elections impact EU security policies?

The outcome of the German elections on February 23 will have significant implications for European affairs, including security policies. Amid growing challenges such as the war in Ukraine, the return of Donald Trump to the White House, and competition with China, concerns are high in Brussels about the possibility of far-right parties gaining significant support in the EU’s largest economy.

Studio Europa Maastricht spoke with Nele Marianne Ewers-Peters, Assistant Professor for European Security at Maastricht University, about one of the key topics worrying Europeans who are following the German election campaign—Berlin’s role in European defence and its support for Ukraine. Dr Ewers-Peters will be one of the speakers at Studio Europa's upcoming event, “Nach der Wahl: Impact of the German elections on the EU.”
