Maya Mitcheva, alumna MA European Public Affairs

Having completed a Bachelor in European Studies at the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, the choice of a master related to EU affairs was the most logical one for me. I chose Maastricht because of its good reputation. The EPA programme appealed to me through its problem-based and practice-oriented approach.

Thanks to the extensive group work with my classmates from all different backgrounds and nationalities, I learned a lot about the varying levels of European governance under the guidance of skilled academics and experienced practitioners. I particularly enjoyed the training in debating, negotiation skills, presentation giving and lobbying techniques.
The opportunity for a practical stage at the end of the programme is also an advantage of the EPA master. I found an internship at a Brussels based consultancy and I have no doubt that the skills acquired during my master will help me cope with the day-to-day challenges of the internship, as well as any other future career path I decide to choose.
