Dr Rina Vaatstra (H.F.)

Career history

Rina Vaatstra works from September 2020 as manager of the Education, Content and Support department at the University Library. As a department manager, she leads several teams that are experts in:

  • educational systems (including Canvas, ZOOM, Mediasite, Testvision, Wooclap, Feedbackfruits)
  • video construction and support
  • information and digital literacy
  • Keylinks learning resources and Copyright
  • Open Educational Resources
  • Collection for education, research and patient care

During her career, Rina has initiated and coordinated various educational innovation projects in the field of matching and selection, testing and assessment, employability, mentorship, study progress and teacher professionalization, in close collaboration with academic professionals from various faculties and universities.

 

Rina studied Cognitive Psychology at the University of Groningen. In 1996 she defended her thesis “Expertise in Accountancy” at Maastricht University. Until 1998 she worked as an assistant professor at the ERD (Educational Research and Development) department of SBE (School of Business and Economics) at UM. From 1997 - 2011 she also worked at the School of Accounting and Controlling at Nyenrode University. Her work there involved quality assurance, accreditation, assessment and teacher professionalization. From 1999 - 2003 Rina worked as a project leader at the Research Center for Education and the Labor Market (ROA) of Maastricht University. She then worked from 2004 - 2007 as an educational advisor for the LUMC (Leiden University Medical Center). From 2007-2020, working at the department of Educational Development & IT (EDIT) of the UM Law Faculty, Rina coordinated various innovation projects in which educational technology played a major role.
