Workshop: Playing with ChatGPT

Hello it’s me… ChatGPT: What exactly are Large Language models and what does that tell us about the challenges and opportunities for teaching at university

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn about how Large Language Models work
  • Learn about its strength and weakness
  • Learn about the legal issues
  • Discuss the implications for scientific (code) writing
  • Work on possible changes in your teaching and assessment
  • Possibly discuss implications for sentience and consciousness

This activity will be offered on-site (at EDLAB).

About the trainer
Michael Capalbo has a wide range of interests and backgrounds. He has a Master's degree in Educational Psychology, a PhD in computational neuroscience, and does research into the human brain and personalised assessment. He is a BBC public speaking competition winner, a Comenius Senior Teaching Fellow and teaches at the faculty of psychology, the university college and at the faculty of computing sciences. In his last role, he has been teaching about Large Language Models, like GTP, for years. 

Costs
EDLAB is happy to offer this course to you free of charge. Please note, however, that we have paid to develop and deliver this session together with the trainers, so if you sign up but cannot attend, we would greatly appreciate it if you could give us at least 4 days’ notice so that we can advertise your spot to others who may be interested. Failing to turn up or cancelling at the last minute may result in your department being charged the cost price (please get in touch with us for more details should you need to cancel).

EDLAB reserves the right to postpone this event should a minimum of 6 participants not be reached.
