Not sure what you want to study?
At University College Venlo, we follow a university bachelor education called Liberal Arts and Sciences. This is a small scale programme where you can design your own curriculum, choosing subjects from various disciplines.
You have the freedom to make unique combinations based on your own interests. You do not have to decide this at the first day, but can develop your curriculum along the way. Students at University College Venlo (UCV) come from many different countries all over the world and all have their individual future plans and interests.
At the conference there will be several workshops:
- Changing (your) unhealthy behaviour
- Lab experience: Endothermic and Exothermic reactions
- Starting a Beer Company
- Understanding our muscles

Changing (your) unhealthy behaviour
We all know people with unhealthy habits who keep on trying to change their behavior. Think of smoking, snacking or not doing any sports. Maybe you are one of those people yourself. In this workshop students will learn about different psychological methods and techniques to change behavior. In groups, students will apply these methods by designing a poster to promote healthy behavior.
Lab experience: endothermic and exothermic reactions
After the introduction and safety precautions, students will be allowed to carry out an chemical experiment of their own and record their own findings. The workshop will end with a short brainstorm drawing conclusions.
Starting a Beer Company
Students will first learn in a lecture what beer is made of and what the beer market looks like. In groups students will develop their own beer and market it in order to sell as many as possible.
Understanding our muscles
This workshop will give students an insight to the actions that occur during muscle movement. Volunteers will be selected to try different techniques to stimulate your muscles or to calm them, which also occurs in cases of cramps. Students will be given an opportunity to go through some muscle stimulator. With a practical example we can elaborate on the actions causing this cramp and some techniques and nurturant that help prevent that. At the end of the workshop your knowledge will be tested with a small questionnaire.
