Being a Good Ancestor
The big problems of our time can all be traced back to one thing: we’re only thinking in the short term. Short term thinking colonises the future. You see it in the business world, in politics and in people’s personal lives. It creates greater inequality between population groups and gives rise to more existential threats. According to Krznaric, we’re standing at the edge of the abyss. Yet there is hope. In order to become good forefathers, we have to radically reshape our economy and our politics – a huge task. But beneath these ambitious goals lies something we can do ourselves: exchange our short-sightedness for long-term thinking. In his lecture, Krznaric will discuss how we can become good forefathers, thus saving our planet and our future, and the whole of mankind as well.
Roman Krznaric is one of the leading public philosophers of our time and a founding member of The School of Life, in London.
