Postcapitalism: the key for a sustainable future
Are you curious about what a world without money could look like?
PINE Maastricht is happy to announce that Anitra Nelson today joins our mission of fostering discourse on various economic theories that are alternatives to the neoclassical school. Prof. Nelson is an activist-scholar affiliated with the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Throughout her career, she has investigated various sustainability approaches, including degrowth practices. She has questioned whether monetary values and relations stop us from becoming sustainable and fair. Recently she asked: what does a world without money look like? Her arguments in "Beyond Money: A Postcapitalist Strategy" (2022) look at money as a driver of environmental destruction. Her 45 min zoom lecture draws on a spectrum of political-economic thoughts, such as ecoanarchism, permaculture, autonomism, ecosocialism… and money-free sustainability insights. In the end, she will be happy to answer your questions!
