MACCH Annual Conference: Trust and Transparency in Art and Heritage Practices
On 15 - 17 March 2020, the Maastricht Centre for Arts and Culture, Conservation and Heritage (MACCH) will host its annual, transdisciplinary conference together with UNESCO. This year’s theme ‘Trust and Transparency in Art and Heritage Practices’ will explore ways of enhancing transparency in the art trade by building trust in provenance and the circulation of cultural objects while reducing abuse through illegal business practices.
During the three days, our keynote speaker and panellists will explore the problems focussing on five fields:
- The illicit trade in cultural objects
- The restitution of Nazi-looted art
- The return of colonial heritage
- Decolonialising the museum
- Digital heritage
All panels will feature experts from the academic sector and practitioners from different fields to stimulate an interdisciplinary conversation. The conference builds on the 2016 conference Fair and Just Practices: Art and heritage worlds from the perspectives of markets and law, and the 2018 conference Crossing Borders in Arts and Heritage. We invite you to join us continue our tradition of crossing disciplinary borders to find new solutions to some of our current problems in the arts and heritage sector.
Programme and registration form will be published soon.
