Sexual violence is a serious issue and more and more people are aware of it. How do we behave respectfully towards one another in our work environment, in our classes and in our social activities?
Leading the discussion on this issue is the mission of Mariëtte Hamer, the Government Commissioner for Sexual Transgressive Behaviour and Sexual Violence since April 2022.

Would you like to join the conversation on how to address sexual safety in higher education? Would you like to share your thoughts about what is important in this context, about what you need and how the university can support you even better?
On Friday 15 September from 16:30-18:30, Mariëtte will come to Maastricht University to have a conversation with UM representatives and you. We would love to hear about your experiences, ideas and initiatives. You are most welcome!
Programme:
- 16:00 – Check-in and welcome
- 16:30 – Word of welcome by the moderator, diversity officer Constance Sommerey
followed by an interactive conversation with Mariëtte Hamer,
UM president Rianne Letschert and programme manager Joyce Grul - 17:45 – Wrap-up and reception for informal discussion
- 18:30 – Closing
This meeting is intended for employees and students of Maastricht University and UM-affiliated student organisations and employee networks or departments.
Registration for this meeting is mandatory and can be done via the green button. In the form you can also ask your question(s) in advance. We will do our best to include as many questions as possible. After the conversation there is a reception to post discuss.
This townhall meeting was initiated by the government commissioner and organised by the Diversity & Inclusivity Office and the Sexual Safety Programme UM.
