Course Description

The training provides participants with an in-depth insight and explanation of the data protection key concepts, principles and obligations embedded in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which has been extensively mirrored in the Kenya Data Protection Act.

The course will provide a step-by-step guide on how to put in place the necessary data protection and security activities and policies in your organisation to comply with the legal requirements in the most cost-effective and efficient way. The experienced trainers in the programme follow Maastricht University's well-known Problem Based Learning methodology: Throughout our training programme you are stimulated to actively work on real-life issues in order to acquire the skills needed to perform most effectively as a DPO in your organisation. 

Localisation programme

On Friday afternoon, we offer a 3 hours interactive optional session which you can add to your course. During the session, the experts will introduce the Kenyan Data Protection Act addressing also the key differences with the GDPR as well as the most recent ODPC (Office of the Data Protection Commissioner) guidelines and determinations.

Examination

Throughout the course, the following examination elements need to be passed in order to obtain the ECPC-B DPO Professional University Certificate:

A group assignment based on a case study and under the supervision of trainers
A multiple-choice exam
A final written examination at the end of the course
