Taking this course has made me much more confident about my writing skills. Working with fellow students and exchanging feedback has helped with this in particular. Improving your writing skills is not only useful for writing for academic texts, but also for communicating with academics, colleagues or fellow students.

The course complements Universiteitstaal, a digital learning environment where you work independently on your language skills. In the 6-part online writing course, you go through a step-by-step plan under the guidance of an experienced tutor. This helps you to clearly structure your texts in correct Dutch. During the writing process, you will receive feedback from your fellow students and the teacher, so that you can deliver an optimal writing product at the end.
In this course you will learn to:
- define target audience(s);
- define topics;
- structure texts clearly according to a step-by-step plan;
- write in an attractive style;
- Use ChatGPT as an assistant;
- Providing peer feedback.
If you have attended all sessions and delivered a satisfactory writing product, you will receive a digital certificate.

Participation in the course
The course is free if you meet the following conditions:
- you are a UM student;
- your Dutch language level is at least B2;
- you write a motivation letter (150 words) explaining your motivation.

After receiving your registration, you will receive a confirmation and instructions on how to write a motivation letter. The teacher will then contact you to schedule a short introductory meeting.
