C. Bluntz

Before joining the Maastricht Sustainability Institute in April 2021, Clarence lived and worked in Paris and Berlin. He holds a PhD from Paris-Dauphine University. His PhD research focused on the roles of participatory processes in the transformation of food production-consumption systems in France.

At the Maastricht Sustainability Institute, Clarence is active both in teaching and research. He coordinates the "business" specialisation of the MSc Sustainability Science, Policy and Society, where students explore the intertwining of energy and material flows, economic practices, and planetary boundaries.

As a researcher, he combines systems thinking, ecological economics and political economy to study degrowth, food provisioning, and the impact of populist and nationalist political dynamics on the transformation of production-consumption systems in Western Europe.

Clarence also loves writing about himself in the 3rd person.
