Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a versatile technique to quantify environmental impacts and compare different products and technologies. It allows to select, optimise and further develop the most sustainable options.

Therefore, LCA is of interest for industrial and academic professionals working in different fields (process engineering, chemistry) on development of biobased building blocks and materials. It allows to compare different biobased solutions and to compare biobased solutions with their fossil counterparts.

The course intends to give engineers, chemists, researchers working in industry or academia a thorough introduction into LCA methods, the interpretation of results, LCA applications as well as strengths and limitations of this technique. The course is not intended for those who already work with LCA, have LCA experience or have already done courses on LCA.
