 Except for the Educatieve Minor: you can sign up for this minor from 1 March 2025 up and until 31 May 2025.

 Please keep in mind that some minors have a limited number of available places.

How to apply for a minor:

  • You should apply via the Special Course Request procedure via the Student Portal. Please choose all courses of the minor you want to participate in or mention the name of the Minor programme you opt for in a note.
  • Your request will first be assessed by your own faculty. After approval the request will be forwarded to the offering faculty who assesses if you can be registered (is there still place, do you meet entrance requirements etc.).
  • After approval you will receive further information on the registration procedure.

Please note: Before your registration is final, your application will be approved by the examination committee of FHML. You must have completed your second year before you can participate in a minor.

Maastricht Science Programme offers students who are interested in a teaching career the opportunity to follow an educational minor. You must ask the Board of Examiners for permission to follow this minor. Before doing so, it is good to know that:

  • The minor is in Dutch: level NT-2/B2 is required (national requirements for teacher training)
  • Before being allowed to take the minor, you should have successfully completed the core courses and be in your fifth semester at MSP
  • The minor is a full-time activity, which means you should have past most, if not all, your modules up until taking the minor


You will get a Dutch teaching qualification when you pass the minor and successfully graduate. This qualification is recognized in the Netherlands.
