MILE Learning@Law Meetings

Legal education is evolving and requires us to respond to societal demands, technological innovations, and the changing expectations of students and teachers. At MILE we believe that ongoing dialogue, reflection and collaboration are essential to maintaining high-quality legal education.

MILE’s Learning@Law meetings offer an informal space for teaching staff to come together and engage in open dialogue about their teaching practice in legal education. During these (lunch) meetings, we exchange ideas, explore challenges, and share experiences.

These gatherings are not lectures or training sessions, but rather conversations. Each meeting centres around a particular theme, which may be introduced by a colleague who has a question, is confronted with a challenge, or wants to share and reflect on an educational practice.

In this workshop, we will take a close look at what it actually means to be a tutor at our faculty and how you can shape/shift your role in practice. This workshop will help you understand the subtle dynamics that shape interactions among students and between students and tutors. The session will combine insights from theory (e.g. Iceberg model, Leary’s Rose and Core Quadrants) with practical discussions to help you incorporate these insights in practice.

The workshop is open to all law faculty teaching staff, but places are limited. If you would like to attend, please email Nicole Kornet to reserve your spot. If you can’t make it but would like to attend this or similar workshops please also let us know.
