Honours programme for bachelor’s students

The DKE honours programme for bachelor’s students has two different tracks: a professional experience track called KE @ Work, and a Research track. If you choose the professional experience track, you will gain work experience for two days a week in addition to your studies. If you opt for the research track, then you will contribute to an ongoing research project.

Both KE @ Work and the Research track require a high degree of independence. You will complete assignments, give presentations and report on your activities and progress. Both tracks have a common component, which is organised by Maastricht University's EdLab.

KE @ Work

In the KE @ Work track, you will undergo a matching process so you can be placed with a company that suits you. During the second and third years of your bachelor's programme, you will spend half of your time in the classroom and half in the company, where you work on solving academic challenges and complex business problems that your employer assigns to you. Of course, you will be guided by people in the company and the university. Participating companies include: Vodafone, Mediaan, Medtronic and PNA Group.

Research track

If you choose the Research track, you will get the chance to participate in a state-of-the-art research project. You will conduct independent research in the same way as it is done at the university’s research institutes. Each student is assigned their own task and role within the research project. The individual research findings will be jointly presented and will be published in a professional journal if possible. You will also be assigned your own personal supervisor who can help guide you through the project.
