Extra housing units in Maastricht for UM students
Before 1 September 2022, 200 to 300 additional studios will be available at the Randwyck district in Maastricht. 300 more will become available until November. So, a total of about 600 homes will be realised. Because these new studios can help alleviate problems with student housing in September, Maastricht University and the municipality of Maastricht are supporting this project wherever possible.
UM is committed to helping students find affordable housing. So even though students themselves - and not UM - are responsible for finding a place to live, UM is more than willing to cooperate in housing projects for students, such as in Maastricht and Sittard.

At the Sorbonnelaan in Maastricht, students live close to the city centre and several amenities. They also live opposite to the UMC+ and in the immediate vicinity of the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, the Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences, and the Faculty of Science and Engineering of UM.
Major interest
All studios are equipped with a private bathroom and kitchen. Some of them are fully furnished and upholstered studios. In addition, residents can use several common areas, where they meet an international community.
Students can rent a studio from 427 euros per month, excluding gas, water and electricity. ''This rental price creates great interest. Yet there are still several studios available,'' says Maurice Evers, head of the Maastricht Housing department of the Student Services Centre.
More information about the studios, availability and application can be found on this website.
Additional student housing in neighbouring municipalities
UM is committed to helping students find affordable housing. Also in the region, if need be. As an example, Maurice Evers mentions the realisation of the PITground housing project in Sittard.
