A healthy school lunch and more exercise in primary school helps tackling obesity

The Dutch government encourages primary schools to help children live healthy. Healthy school lunches and more physical exercise in schools can help, which was shown in previous successful projects, like the Healthy Primary School of the Future. RIVM, Maastricht University / CAPHRI, Wageningen University & Research and VU University Amsterdam studied the support, feasibility, affordability and impact of these two measures if implemented throughout the Netherlands. The results are promising. Onno van Schayck (RL Optimising Patient Care) recently presented the report to Paul Blokhuis, State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport and the House of Representatives.
