Expert Lectures on International Trade Law

The joint GlawNet and IGIR ‘Expert Lectures on International Trade Law’ aims at giving students, Ph.D. candidates, and Faculty members the opportunity to discuss the most current topics of international trade law with experts on the field from various universities and institutions from abroad. Experts will give a lecture on a specific topic followed by a Q&A session open to all participants.

This event will be hybrid and we will have the following expert presenting: "Global Economic Disorder: Confrontation and Fragmentation", Lecture by Prof. Peter Van den Bossche on 31 October 2022, 18.30-19.15

The world economic order of the past is no longer. Geo-political confrontation and geo-economic fragmentation have given rise to significant uncertainty, inefficiency, and inequality in international economic relations. What are the underlying causes of this wretched state of disarray of the world economy? How can the multiple crises affecting the global trading system be addressed and mitigated? Is there any hope for ‘salvation’?

About the speaker:
Peter Van den Bossche is a former Member and Chair of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization (2009-2019), and is currently Director of Studies and Professor of International Economic Law at the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern, and President of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL).
