Tapijnkazerne Maastricht opens its doors

2019 Construction Day and Architecture Day
-

On Saturday 15 June the construction site of the Tapijnkazerne in Maastricht will be open for visitors. During the joint annual Construction and Architecture Day on Saturday 15 June, Mertens Construction Company and Bouwend Nederland will open the gates so everyone can come and take a look behind the scenes. The construction site will be open to the public from 10.00 to 16.00. The central focus of this day will be both construction and architecture. At 10.00, Alderman Vivianne Heijnen will officially open the day on behalf of the Municipality of Maastricht.

With ‘learning’ as their connecting theme, Maastricht University, the Municipality of Maastricht and the Province of Limburg are working together to revive the former Tapijnkazerne. In the coming years the area will be converted into a public park, with buildings intended for education, research and multifunctional spaces and catering facilities. Tapijn will become a place where students, companies and city residents can meet.

Entry is free of charge. Please note that parking is limited, so come by bike or public transport.

More information about this day can be found at www.dagvandebouw.nl and www.dagvandearchitectuur.nl. More information about the construction work of the Tapijnkazerne can be found on our page ‘Redeveloping Tapijn’.
