"Debate on Europe more relevant than ever"
What is the future of the European Union? During his inaugural lecture on Friday 8 December, Mathieu Segers, Professor of Contemporary European History and European Integration, gave his vision on the matter. He touched on many recent developments, from Bataclan attacks in Paris to the refugee crisis, Brexit and the gilets jaunes protests. As far as Segers is concerned, there is definitely still a future for Europe. He will dedicate the coming years to investigating what shape it could or should take and what part we can play in its development.
