Dr Nicole Kornet (N.)

Career history

Dr Nicole Kornet is an Associate Professor in legal education and private law at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University.

 

Nicole's primary responsibilities revolve around teaching and education management. She teaches in the field of contract law and commercial law, and is currently responsible for the bachelor course Comparative Contract Law. In 2020, Nicole was appointed Director of Studies of the European Law School bachelor programme, having previously served as its coordinator. 

 

Apart from teaching and educational management, Nicole's work focuses on education development and innovation in legal education. She is involved in curriculum design, development and revision at the Faculty of Law. As coordinator of the Faculty's honours programme, she developed a competence-based programme including a personal development and student leadership track.  She was part of the core project team that revised the curriculum of the Dutch law bachelor programme (Bachelor Rechtsgeleerdheid), also working on the design and development of a professional development track (Leergang Professionele Ontwikkeling). As Director of Studies, she is currently leading the curriculum revision of the European Law School bachelor programme. 

 

Nicole is a member of the Department of Private Law, the Maastricht European Private Law Institute (M-EPLI) and the Ius Commune Research School.

 

Nicole is a graduate of the the University of Otago (BA LL.B. (Hons)) and Maastricht University (LL.M., PhD). She successfully defended her PhD dissertation on contract interpretation and gap filling  at Maastricht University in 2006.
