Dr Leonhardt van Efferink (L.A.S.)

My courses focus on the economies of countries, combining elements from Micro-. Macro-, Monetary and International Economics. Where relevant, my courses also draw on my expertise in geopolitics, geo-economics, frame analysis and scenario planning.

As a coordinator, I am responsible for five courses:

  1. Country Risk Analysis (EBS2013) - Students learn how to build a country risk model with macro-economic variables.
  2. Designing Country Strategies (EBC2206) - Students learn how to justify an investment decision based on a country risk model and geopolitical / geo-economic scenarios.
  3. Emerging Economies in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EBC2161) -  Students learn to critically engage with the business environment of countries in three different regions.
  4. Governing the European Economy (EUS2009) - Students learn key economic concepts to better understand the economic structures of European countries.
  5. International Economics and European Integration (EUS2013) - Students learn to critically engage with the governance structure, international trade and geo-economics of the European Union.

I also work as a tutor in the “Environment & Economy I+II” and "National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Mitigation Strategy" courses in the Global Studies Bachelor Program (FASoS).

Finally, as Mentor of students of the same Global Studies Bachelor Program, I help students with studying, making study-related decisions and thinking about their future career.
