Joris Roosen (J.)

Joris Roosen (1987) is head of research and vice director at the Centre for the Social History of Limburg (SHCL). In addition, he coordinates several courses for both Maastricht University and University College Maastricht.  

Roosen holds a BA and MA in history from the University of Ghent and obtained a PhD in Economic History from the University of Utrecht. His dissertation focused on the demographic and economic consequences of the mid-14th century Black Death. Prior to working for the Centre for the Social History of Limburg, he was a research coordinator for the Foundation for Auditing Research at Nyenrode Business University.

His current research focuses on the socio-economic history of Limburg and adjacent regions, with a special interest in the Meuse river.
