Career history

Hester holds a degree in private law from Maastricht University (2011). After her studies she completed her PhD in the field of legal theory under the supervision of prof. dr. Jaap Hage en prof. dr. Jan Smits on the juridical act as a theoretical concept ("The juridical act, a study of the theoretical concept of an act that aims to create new legal facts"). She worked fulltime as a lawyer at Themis advocaten for three years before returning (part time) to academia. She currently works mostly within the Dutch Law bachelor, both as the year coördinator for the second year of the bachelor, for the Dutch Civil Procedural law courses in the Dutch Law bachelor and Master and she supervises the course on Foundations of Law in the third year of the Dutch Law bachelor. Apart from her work for the faculty she works as a lawyer for LexQuire Tax & Law, where she specialises in civil procedure and liability cases, with a focus on class action law suits.
