INKOM 2025: The Start of Something New
INKOM, the annual introductory week for new students of Maastricht University, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and VISTA College, will take place this year from Monday 18 August through Thursday 21 August. During INKOM, new students can participate in various activities including cultural workshops, an introduction to Dutch language and/or dialect, a career event and work-outs at the University Sports Center (USC). John Tana will perform at the opening at Market Square on Monday 18 August. On Tuesday and Thursday, the program ends with a party at the MECC.
The theme of INKOM 2025 is "The Start of Something New", which is exactly what the new academic year symbolises. It is not only the beginning of your new studies, but also of a new (student) life, with new friends, knowledge, hobbies, and in a new city.
Recap: INKOM 2025
INKOM 2025 has come to an end – and what an incredible week it was! From start to finish, the city was filled with a vibrant atmosphere. From the official opening party to the many sports, cultural and informational activities, students came together to meet each other and discover the city. Student associations, study associations and UM partners also showcased themselves at their best, giving students a clear picture of all the opportunities Maastricht has to offer. Thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers – including many UM staff members – and the enthusiastic thousands of participants, we look back on an inspiring, energetic and unforgettable INKOM 2025. We wish all new students the very best of luck and lots of enjoyment in their studies in Maastricht!

Monday 18 Augustus
At the INKOM Monday, students will have the opportunity to get to know the city and each other better. In the afternoon there will be an information market on the grounds of the Tapijnkazerne, followed by a Crazy 88 (a city tour with a fun element) right through the city center. In the evening there will be the official opening of INKOM on the Market Square. INKOM cordially invites the city of Maastricht and its inhabitants to get acquainted with the new students. Entrance to the Markt is free of charge.
Tuesday 19 August
Several activities are organized on Tuesday mornings. Students can choose from a yoga workshop and/or a communal breakfast. After this, Build your Future will take place. That event introduces new students to what Maastricht and the Euregion has to offer after graduation. They can improve their CV and attend workshops by major companies and organizations from the Euregion. At the beginning of the evening, INKOM will join forces with the youth department of the Bonnefantenmuseum. The museum has a special evening opening during which young artists will exhibit their work. Here, too, INKOM and the Bonnefantenmuseum are inviting Maastricht city residents to take a look for free. The evening will end with a party in the MECC; INKOM-Live!

Wednesday 20 August
Wednesday morning starts with a Workout by UMSports, then the new students are introduced to Dutch and Maastricht language and culture during Dutch Dimensions. At the beginning of the afternoon is the SportsEvent at Tapijnkazerne. Here students can meet many sports associations and participate in the activities offered by these organizations. In the evening in the MECC is the biggest karaoke Night of the Low Countries, the INKOM Sing-a-Long.
Thursday 21 August
Thursday is the last day of INKOM 2025. Like Tuesday and Wednesday, students will be offered a work-out at the University Sports Center in the morning. At More to Explore, participants can then learn more about the different backgrounds and cultures (wellbeing) in Maastricht. In the afternoon, INKOM will conclude the outdoor portion with Summer Valley at Tapijnkazerne. This event is an introduction of the different student parties supplemented with music. INKOM 2025 will be closed with the party; Heineken Night in the MECC.
