Healthcare practices and policies often grapple with the complexities of balancing individual interests with the common good. This lecture will explore the intricate ethical, social, and political landscape surrounding pregnancy when prenatal testing indicates a risk for disability in the future child. Rosemarie Garland-Thomson will provide insight into the ethical, social, and political commitments of modern liberal democracies, focusing on principles such as equality, life, self-determination, and protection from harm.
