46th Dies Natalis
Maastricht University celebrates its 46th Dies Natalis on Thursday, 12 May 2022, in the Sint Jans Church in Maastricht.
The agenda includes a special ceremony, in which the outgoing Rector Magnificus, Prof. dr. Rianne Letschert, will transfer her position to Prof. dr. Pamela Habibovic. This was initially set to take place on 28 January, but was rescheduled due to corona-related circumstances. Prof. dr. Habibovic has already taken up her new role as of 1 February.

Empowerment and Leadership
Maastricht University has set itself the objective of becoming a considerate and sustainable university. The theme of the upcoming Dies Natalis highlights one of the key aspects to achieve this: Empowerment and Leadership.
Nice Nailantei Leng'ete will give the keynote lecture on personal leadership and empowerment. The lecture title is: “How to become the person of your dreams?”. As a human rights activist, she fights against female circumcision in particular. She was named of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine in 2018.

Rectorship handover ceremony
The 46th Dies Natalis will mark the handover of the UM rectorship. Prof. dr. Rianne Letschert, the newly appointed president of Maastricht University, will give her farewell address as rector. She will then hand over the rector’s office to Prof. dr. Pamela Habibovic, who in turn will give her inaugural speech. Pamela Habibovic has already taken up her new role as rector as of 1 February.
Prof. dr. Rianne Letschert will also present the Wynand Wijnen Education Prize, the Dissertation Prize and the Student Prizes.
Bachelor Student Prizes
