A. Arslan - Dogan, MSc

Aysenur Arslan-Dogan is a Junior Researcher at the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences (DACS) at Maastricht University. Her work focuses on bioacoustic monitoring. In collaboration with European zoos within the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), she works with large-scale acoustic datasets to support biodiversity research. Her work involves collecting, processing, and analyzing audio data, applying techniques from signal processing, machine learning, and deep learning to identify patterns in complex acoustic environments and gain insights relevant to biodiversity monitoring.

Within the research group, she contributes to several projects exploring computational approaches to acoustic data analysis and ecological monitoring. In addition to her research activities, she supervises Master’s theses, research internships, and Master Research Project groups, and contributes to teaching activities within the department.

Aysenur obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from Maastricht University. Alongside her academic work, she has gained industry experience in different areas of applied data science. At Mercedes-Benz in Germany, she worked on signal processing, time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and machine learning. In the Netherlands, she worked with Vebego on projects involving mathematical optimization, linear programming, machine learning, and user interface development.
