Passionate about sustainability? Join the Green Office at Maastricht University as the Sustainability Hub Manager! As Sustainability Hub Manager, you’re the main point of contact for everything related to the Hub, whether it’s helping student organizations, keeping the space running smoothly, or working with the university to get things fixed. You’re there to support sustainability initiatives, facilitate collaboration, and make sure the Hub remains an accessible and welcoming space for all.

Make sustainability a core part of university life—apply now by Friday, February 28! Applicants must be able to work for a one-year contract.

The Green Office at UM is the central hub for student-led sustainability initiatives. It aims to inspire and empower the university community to take action toward a sustainable future. The Green Office organizes events, runs projects, and promotes sustainable practices in education, operations, and campus life. It serves as a platform for collaboration, bringing together students, staff, and external stakeholders to drive meaningful change. Its core values are engagement, innovation, and making sustainability a visible and integral part of university culture.

We are seeking a motivated and organized student to join the Green Office team as the Sustainability Hub Manager (10 hours per week, flexible schedule)

The Sustainability Hub is the home for all student sustainability initiatives at Maastricht University. It’s a space that brings together different organizations, supports projects, and provides a place for students to collaborate, work, and host events. It’s a mix of organized planning and creative chaos, and that’s exactly what makes it such a great community.

Key Responsibilies

  • Supporting Student Organizations
    • Helping sustainability-focused student groups organize their projects and events.
    • Connecting organizations with each other to encourage collaboration.
    • Checking in with the Hub’s groups regularly to make sure they have what they need to ask what’s working, and what could be improved. Communication with the hub reps is mostly done via whatsapp and the biweekly hub reps meetings.
    • Keeping track of new initiatives, ensuring they integrate well into the space.
    • Helping organizations with event planning, whether it’s logistics, space setup, or connecting them with the right people.
    • Creating a friendly and supportive environment by organizing fun internal activities for Hub representatives (e.g., board game nights, social events).
  • Keeping the Hub Running
    • Ensuring the space is functional, organized, and well-stocked. This means making sure things like tea, coffee, markers, and cleaning supplies don’t run out.
    • Handling facility management issues. If something is broken, missing, or needs attention, you’re responsible for reporting it and following up until it’s fixed.
    • Managing access to the building. Helping new organizations get key card access and making sure entry policies are clear.
    • Making sure the space stays clean. Planning cleaning days and making sure organizations do their part in maintaining the space.
    • Acting as the go-to person for any issues, whether it’s about broken furniture, a missing key, or someone needing help with event logistics.
