About

Anneloes Smitsman holds a Masters degree in Law and Political Science from Leiden University (the Netherlands, 1997) and conducted two years of PhD research about institutional design for an ecologically sustainable society at the Australian National University (ANU, 1998-2000). She is a PhD Researcher at ICIS since September 2014. Her research focuses on the learning process for sustainability using Systems Thinking and System Dynamics modeling to develop an integrated framework for learning for sustainability.

Anneloes is co-founder and Director of ELIA -Ecological Living In Action Ltd (ELIA) since 2006 and Director of the ELIA Education for Sustainability Programme since 2013. She has more than 18 years of work experience as a trainer, coach and facilitator. Her skills include ecological literacy, systems thinking, philosophy, law, visioning & dialogue, transformational change, indigenous wisdom, project development, and platform design.

Anneloes designs and facilitates training and coaching programmes for transformational change, education for sustainability, and corporate sustainability. She has lived and worked in the Netherlands, South-Africa, Australia and Mauritius. She is based in Mauritius with her family since 2006.
