HSB within the UM
HSB is part of the Faculty Office FHML and has a number of tasks and mandates. Some of these tasks are statutory, others have been assigned to HSB by mandate. These are a number of FHML-FPN specific, but also a number of UM-wide tasks and mandates.
Within UM, the occupational health and safety responsibilities are assigned to the faculties. Within FHML-FPN, these responsibilities are again assigned to the directors or department chairs/department chairs. HSB provides advice on the frameworks within which activities may take place. The final responsibility for the occupational health and safety aspects in the broadest sense of the word remains with the directors or department chairs/department chairs as the supervisor of the employees. In order to be able to give advice and set frameworks, a prevention officer and several occupational hygienists have been appointed. In addition, within the departments, we work with Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Contact Persons (Armicos) who take care of the implementation of these health and safety aspects within the specific subject/cap groups can therefore be the 'hands and eyes' for managers.
The central task of the biological safety officer is to supervise compliance with the laws and regulations relating to the GMO laws and regulations (RGGO2013) has been assigned by the UM Executive Board and the Executive Board of the MUMC+ to the biological safety officers within HSB. These officers are mandated (on behalf of the holder of the permit) to apply/amend notifications and permits, to assess staff for required expertise, to approve procedures and work procedures for work with GMOs, to approve (re)construction plans and equipment of GMO laboratories, to stop work and to enter laboratories at all times and to inspect written documents relating to work with GMOs.
Within UM, building management is usually mandated to the largest unit in a building. This appointment is laid down by the Executive Board. The central tasks and responsibilities of building management are described in the memorandum on the division of tasks in building management. At the heart of this memorandum are safety aspects. These are: access and emergency response organization and supervising the house rules.
The allocation of accommodation is mandated to the building manager by means of the Faculty Regulations FHML. This must ensure that adequate housing is allocated within the housing system established by FHML. Central housing projects are supervised by HSB's project staff. For each project, an employee is appointed as project leader/project manager.
