UM SPORTS offer
Would you like to learn a sport, work on your fitness and strength, or are you looking for a student sports association where you can make new friends? At UM SPORTS there are various ways you can engage in sports: individually or with a club, independently or during a multiple week course. Everybody is welcome from novice to top athlete.
UM SPORTS offers activities in six categories: online sports offer, outdoor activities, walk-in activities, gym, sign-up activities and by joining a student sports association.
Outdoor sports are allowed again, so UM SPORTS starts with outdoor activities. All UM SPORTS members have been informed about this via the newsletter, in which you will find more information and a link to the subscription.
As a member of UM SPORTS you may join once a week per outdoor activity to give as many members as possible the opportunity to participate. The registration opens 48 hours before the start of the class. After registration you will receive a confirmation email, please read this carefully before you come to the University Sports Centre. In addition, it is mandatory to bring your UM SPORTS-card along with your UM-card or proof of identity.
The schedule of outdoor activities is sent weekly to all members. UM SPORTS is happy to see you again and wishes you a lot of fun with the outdoor activities!
Online sports offer
On 14 March the Executive Board decided to close the University Sports Centre until further notice due to preventive measures against the coronavirus. UM SPORTS therefore provides an online sports offer.
As a member of UM SPORTS you get access to FitSnacks.TV. This is an online platform with workouts similar to those we offer: Power Yoga, Dance, Body & Mind, HIIT, Circuit Training, and more. You also find workouts for seniors and how-to videos on there. You get access by sending an email to umsports[at]maastrichtuniversity[dot]nl and we will send you the instructions.
In addition to using FitSnacks.TV, you can do an on-demand or join a live workout of one of our own instructors. They will show you their own favourite workouts and will provide you with a break from your sedentary work! We will also highlight fun YouTube videos and share vitality tips weekly.
You can find all the above on our Facebook & Instagram, so keep an eye on there. The coming period, we will keep improving our online sports offer. We will keep you updated by our newsletter and social media channels.
Walk-in activities are group classes (spinning classes included), training sessions and 'free play' activities or games. These can be found at the University Sports Centre and external locations. You do not have to register or pay separately for these activities. You can attend them as often as you want.
The University Sports Centre offers an extensive range of Technogym equipment for both strength and cardio training. During your first visit to the gym an instructor will help you find your way. There is always at least one fitness instructor present to help you to get the most out of your workout. With the MyWellness app and software you can personalise your workout in the cloud.
Student Sports Associations
Would you like to play in a team, take part in competitions, or combine a sports activity with making friends? Then maybe a membership of a student sports association (SSA) is something for you. You need a Sports membership to become a member of one of these associations.

Furthermore, you can book a squash court in advance. There are 3 squash courts available in the University Sports Centre. Do you want to book a squash court? This is possible via the online booking system or at the front desk.
Next to courses and squash, you can also purchase swim entries which are valid throughout the entire academic year. You can use these swim entries at swimming pool Geusseltbad. You can purchase swim entries only at the front desk of the University Sports Centre.
