Stijn Helsloot (S.)

I'm a PhD-student for UM, working within the CCE Plasma Chemistry Group. I am working in cooperation with CANMILK.

CANMILK is an European Consortium between VTT, Valio, University of Antwerp (UA), University of Maastricht (UM), Steinbeis Europa Zentrum (SEZ), Johnson Matthey (JM) and the University of Durham (DU). This project focusses on reducing the carbon-footprint from the bio-industry. The projects final goal is to develop a novel technology, which uses plasma-technology to convert methane into carbon dioxide, which is a much less harmful compound to the environment. Within the UM, we will be creating a setup which is capable of in-situ characterization of two different kinds of microwave plasmas, Hydrogen and Oxygen. We will also use analytic methods to look at the efficiency of the methane destruction, which has to be capable of measuring methane in the 1-200 ppm range.

More about this project and our partners can be found on the CANMILK-site (https://canmilk.eu/), as well as regular updates on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/company/canmilk/).
