Consultancy
The department offers statistical advice and support on study design (e.g. sample size), data analysis and reporting to all FPN researchers, all PhD students, and all FPN students during their master thesis. This is currently done on our own research time.
Researchers are invited to consult us already in the phase of study design. Many issues can be prevented more effectively through careful planning than remedied after data collection.
We welcome punctual and long-term collaboration, protocol and statistical analysis plan writing, participation in grant proposal writing and internships.
Statistical methods
Members of the department have expert knowledge not just on standard statistical methods, but also on advanced methods such as:
- Bayesian statistics
- Causal inference
- Growth curve modeling
- Intensive longitudinal data analysis
- Missing data
- Mixed/multilevel regression/longitudinal data analysis
- Mixture modeling
- Sample size
- Psychometrics including, reliability, validity and agreement
- Structural equations modeling (SEM)
- Survey sampling
- Survival analysis
Whom to contact for first statistical advice?
- For staff from Work and Social Psychology and Neuropsychology and Psychopharmacology: dr. Jan Schepers
- For staff from Cognitive Neuroscience: dr. Trung Dung Tran
For staff from Clinical Psychological Science: Prof. dr. Sophie Vanbelle
Depending on the expertise needed, the timing of the request and the prior existence of collaboration, the researcher may subsequently be referred to another statistician in our dept. for further support.
