Math Noortmann (J.M.P.H.)

Math Noortmann is a senior researcher at the Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross-border cooperation and Mobility (ITEM) of Maastricht University, where he fosters the scientific research of ITEM. He is also Emeritus Professor at the Institute for Peace and Security of Coventry University (UK) and a research fellow at the Security Institute for Governance and Leadership in Africa (SIGLA) of Stellenbosch University (SA). Math has worked at universities in the Netherlands, Singapore, Germany, and the UK.  He holds a Ph.D. in International Law and a M.Sc. in Political Science. His research and teaching revolve around transnational law,  (security) governance, and non-state actors.  His most recent projects and publications address such themes as the private security industry, scenario planning for law enforcement agencies, maritime security and transnational organized crime, and non-governmental organizations.
