State-of-the-art gym

In our fully equipped gym, you can work out on cardio equipment that has interactive touch screens, numerous applications and digital entertainment. Our strength training equipment includes conventional and plate-loaded machines, as well as free weights. One or more instructors are present at all times to answer your questions, show you how to train safely and effectively, and inspire you with new exercises to keep you motivated.

Add some fun and camaraderie to your training by joining one of our daily group training sessions or register for a gym course to gain new knowledge and skills. From intense cross-training workouts to relaxed mobility sessions and from fitness introductions to technical Olympic weightlifting, there is a session or course for your fitness needs.

Join a course

If you’re looking to improve your skills or learn a new sport, we offer courses at all levels for a small additional fee. You can join our courses in tennis, squash, climbing, weightlifting and more.

We offer a broad range of indoor and outdoor sports for all ages and fitness levels. Some sports take place at the USC and others are at various locations around Maastricht. We offer the following sports and many more:

Student sports associations & Sports Council MUSST

Craving team spirit and friendly competition? With 32 student sports associations, there is a sports community for everyone. You could also consider joining Sports Council MUSST, the guiding body for the student sports associations that is housed at the USC.

More than fitness at the USC

The University Sports Centre is about more than breaking a sweat. You can also do the following at the USC:

Relax at the Body & Mind studio: Focus on strengthening your body-mind connection with a Body & Mind mix class or yoga session.
Consult a physiotherapist or enjoy a relaxing massage.
Use a learning space: Study on your own or with a group at one of our learning spaces at the USC—no reservation necessary.
Enjoy food and drinks at our Sports Café: Sit down with friends after a game or a workout and enjoy a cup of coffee, smoothie or a delicious sandwich. The café is open for everyone.
Rent a sports hall for an event: You can rent one or more USC sports halls to organise sports or other UM-related events by submitting a request to umsports-facilities@maastrichtuniversity.nl. You will receive a decision within five working days.
Record pre-approved photos or videos: If you want to plan a photo or video shoot at the USC, you can do so with prior approval from a communications officer or the facilities department.

A welcoming atmosphere for all

Everyone is welcome at UM SPORTS, regardless of age, fitness level, identity or background. We are a friendly sports community and have no tolerance for bullying or aggressive behaviour. We also provide gender-neutral bathrooms and showers to make sure that all of our members feel at home at the University Sports Centre.
