Pi-Day 2024
-
On 14 March 2024, MCM organised a Pi-Day meeting, bringing Mathematics Centre Maastricht back to life after a few quiet years.
The event began with a welcome reception with pie and refreshments. Three short talks followed by researchers from different Maastricht University faculties: Rianne Fijten (FHML) spoke about the use of artificial intelligence to improve healthcare and patient outcomes. Mohsen Pourpouneh (SBE, DAD) presented perspectives on decentralization and its potential impact. Pieter Collins (FSE, DACS) discussed the role of formal proof in mathematics in “The Pi is in the Proof”. The meeting concluded with drinks and informal discussion at the Wienkontor BK7 venue at the Maastricht Bassin.
